"Poised" follows Steven France, a man haunted by the suicide of his step-father and fighting to affect change on the front lines of his ever declining hometown, Sunderland.
Zero opportunity, poverty and crime, these are the themes that mark a life growing up in Sunderland's housing estates. Steven could have succumbed to this life, but a chance encounter with mixed martial arts brought him a chance to reform. As he sets out on a path to turn his hometown around, will his belief in the healing power of combat sport be enough to prevent a group of troubled youngsters from becoming just another statistic.
I worked alongside director Toby Robson to write and develop this incredible story. It's been a pleasure to be a part of the journey.
